BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP (F. Kerr 2004) Sdlg. 97-041A 38" M. ((Peach Picotee x Condottiere) X Celebration Song)) A beautiful pastel bicolor from a good family. The standards and styles are light baby ribbon pink, well arched and ruffled. The falls are semi-flaring, white with a yellow throat and a narrow blue lavender edge suffusing toward the center. The beards are tangerine orange and there is a sweet fragrance. A good grower and increaser for us. 4.00
BLOODLINE (F. Kerr 2004) Sdlg. 94-006A. TB 39" M. ((Prom Queen x Lady Friend) X King's Ruby) Here is a dandy tangerine bearded red that is distinct from its sibling Blaze of Glory. Standards are light red and the style arms have apricot crests. The standards are touching and nicely ruffled. The falls are generally wider than our picture shows are are semi-flaring. The overall color of the fall is red with a white blaze at the ends of the orange beards. The edges of the falls are darker, at cooler temperatures showing a distinct ring. 4.00
CALL YOUR NAME (F. Kerr 2004) Sdlg 96-034B 38" M. (Kathleen Kay Nelson X Queen's Circle) From such fabulous parents we expected great things and we weren't disappointed. The wonderful quality and form of Kathleen Kay Nelson combined with Queen's Circle to give a seedling of even greater quality and form. The stalks are heavy, the branching terrific. The white standards are domed, ruffled and a clean white with an infusion of blue at the base. The style arms are white and the stigmatic lip light blue. The flaring falls are dark to medium blue with a white area beneath the yellow beards. Beautiful ruffling completes the picture. Good increaser. 4.00
HIDDEN AGENDA (F. Kerr 2004) Sdlg. 98-023D2 TB 36" M. ((Baltic Star X (Licorice Fantasy x (Licorice Fantasy x Snowbrook))) When we first saw Baltic Star we thought it would be some help in our black plicata line and we were rewarded with a number of dark plicatas with good flower size. The standards on this introduction are firmly held in an upright position and reddish black with just a hit of lightness in the center. The falls are slightly lighter in color than the standards and are reddish black with a bluish spray pattern around the beards. The beards are brown and each hair is tipped bluish black. Sweet fragrance. Grows well with average branching and bud count. HELD FOR INCREASE
NEW PERSPECTIVE (F. Kerr 2004) Sdlg. 9701201. TB 42" M. (Desert Lullaby X Fairmont) This seedling caused a sensation when it won the Best Seedling Award in Walnut Creek, CA. In spite of the "buzz" about it on the web, I decided to hold it from introduction for an additional year in order to be sure of plenty of stock. New Perspective has no standards, but it does have six falls. The number of style arms varies from three to nine or more. Usually there are no anthers, but plants under stress may have fewer style arms and normal anthers. The pollen is fertile. Only a few seeds are produced when New Perspective is used as a pod parent in my experience. The color is medium blue violet, lighter at the edges of the falls. Very well ruffled with yellow beards. Three branches and a terminal and it can open four large flowers at a time. Strong stalks. HM 2007 4.00
QUEEN'S CONSORT (F. Kerr 2004) Sdlg. 97006B. TB 38" M. (Azure Icicle X Queen's Circle) This introduction is quite different from the other introductions I have done in this color pattern. Although the standards and styles are white as is expected, the fall coloring in an interesting variation on the Emma Cook pattern. The ground color is white with a fairly dark blue edge with a wider and lighter band inside it. Yellow beards with white tips. Good branching and increase. Runnerup to its parent Queen's Circle for the Franklin Cook Cup 2005. HM 2006 AM 2008 4.00
